Das europäische Grenzregime in Tunesien –
Perspektiven von Aktivist*innen vor Ort

Seit über 30 Jahren ragen die Grenzen Europas in den afrikanischen Kontinent hinein. Um dennoch ihr Recht auf ein Leben in Würde zu realisieren müssen Menschen lebensgefährliche Routen nutzen. Insbesondere die “Maghreb”-Staaten sind zu den Türstehern Europas geworden.

Besonders in Tunesien spitzt sich die Situation in den letzten Jahren zu: Eine zunehmend autoritäre Regierung, Verhaftungen und Deportationen von Schwarzen Geflüchteten an unbekannte Orte an der Grenze – ohne Zugang zu Nahrung, Wasser, Unterkunft oder medizinischer Versorgung.

Bei der Veranstaltung berichten Menschenrechtsaktivist*innen und Betroffene von der Situation vor Ort und diskutieren, wie sich die EU-Migrationspolitik auf Länder wie Tunesien und infolgedessen den gesamten Sahel-Sahara-Raum auswirkt. Dabei wollen wir auch gemeinsam darüber sprechen, wie sich Kämpfe für soziale Rechte und Bewegungsfreiheit transnational verbinden lassen und wir auch hier vor Ort gegen das EU-Grenzregime aktiv werden können.

The European border regime in Tunisia -
Perspectives from activists on the ground

For over 30 years, Europe's borders have been encroaching on the African continent. In order to realize their right to a life in dignity, people have to take life-threatening routes. The “Maghreb” states in particular have become Europe's gatekeepers.

The situation in Tunisia in particular has come to a head in recent years: An increasingly authoritarian government, arrests and deportations of Black refugees to unknown locations at the border - without access to food, water, shelter or medical care.

At the event, human rights activists and those affected will report on the situation on the ground and discuss how EU migration policy is affecting countries such as Tunisia and, as a result, the entire Sahel-Saharan region. We also want to talk together about how struggles for social rights and freedom of movement can be combined transnationally and how we can also take action against the EU border regime here.
