The Right-Wing Turn from Neoliberal Oligarchy to Conservative Tyranny: Lessons from Modern Russian History and Anarchist Critique of the Deformation of Power
The right-wing turn is becoming an increasingly serious threat to people's rights and freedoms in many countries, including those where "liberal democracy" or the "welfare state" were recently taken for granted. To overcome the drift into a right-wing conservative dystopia, it is worth examining the grim experience of those countries where right-wing conservative tendencies have already prevailed.
What lessons can European anarchists draw from Russia’s recent history? How does the neoliberal oligarchy defend its dominance through state authoritarianism? How was the struggle against dictatorship waged, and why was it lost? How was the fight against class, political and gender inequality conducted? What mistakes did the Russian anarchist movement made? Is it possible to draw analogies between the processes in Russia over the last 30 years and the current state of affairs in the EU?
We will reflect on all these issues alongside Daniil Dugum, an anarchist in exile from Russia. The talk will be held in Russian with simultaneous translation into German.
